How Long Does Juvelook Volume Really Last? A Clinical Guide to Longevity
Juvelook Volume Longevity Explained Through Real Clinical Experience
Hello, this is Do-hoon Kim from ODE Clinic.
Having performed Juvelook Volume treatments since its early introduction, the most surprising aspect in actual practice has been its longevity. In many cases, the results last significantly longer than patients initially expect.
During consultations, I do not necessarily recommend Juvelook Volume simply because it appears “more natural” than fillers. In reality, traditional fillers can also produce extremely natural outcomes when performed properly.
What I focus on instead is the fact that once your own collagen begins to form, the restored volume tends to remain stable for a very long time.
Based on my experience with more than 5,000 vials in the Gangnam area, I’d like to explain how long Juvelook Volume actually lasts in real patients and what factors influence its maintenance.
Juvelook Volume vs. Fillers: Longevity Comparison
Treatment | Average Duration |
|---|---|
Traditional Dermal Fillers | Approximately 1 year |
Juvelook Volume | 2 years or longer |
Understanding the Timeline of Juvelook Volume
Immediately After Treatment
One of the biggest misconceptions about Juvelook Volume is that the immediate post-treatment swelling represents the final result.
Right after the procedure, patients usually notice an instant increase in volume. However, this early fullness mainly comes from the saline solution mixed with the PDLLA particles. As the saline is absorbed, this temporary volume generally subsides within two to three days.
For this reason, some patients become concerned that the treatment “disappeared” after a few days. In reality, the true collagen-building process has not even begun yet at that stage.
The Most Important Period: 2 to 18 Months
Once the initial swelling resolves, the PDLLA particles begin stimulating fibroblasts inside the skin. Over time, these fibroblasts continuously produce collagen, gradually replacing the injected material with the patient’s own tissue.
This collagen synthesis process can continue for approximately 18 to 24 months. In other words, as the PDLLA slowly breaks down and disappears, newly formed collagen takes its place and maintains the volume naturally.
This is the reason Juvelook Volume tends to feel softer and more integrated over time compared to conventional fillers.
What Remains After 18 Months?
By this stage, most of the PDLLA particles themselves have already decomposed. However, mature Type I collagen remains within the tissue, continuing to support facial volume and skin quality.
Clinically, this is why many patients continue to maintain visible improvement well beyond the two-year mark.
Clinical Studies on Long-Term Volume Retention
Although long-term studies specifically focused on PDLLA are still developing, there is substantial research involving PLLA, a structurally similar material.
In one study involving 28 female patients treated with PLLA, 3D imaging analysis demonstrated measurable volume retention even two years after treatment. The reported increase ranged from 0.75cc to 6.4cc depending on the individual case.
This aligns closely with what we observe in real-world clinical practice.

Real Clinical Progress at ODE Clinic
CASE 1 — Female Patient in Her 50s
In this case, the patient maintained excellent volume through approximately 1.5 years after completing three sessions.
By the 2.5-year point, roughly half of the original enhancement had gradually diminished, though meaningful improvement still remained.
CASE 2 — Female Patient in Her 20s
Younger patients often demonstrate significantly stronger collagen maintenance. In this particular case, the volume remained almost fully preserved even after 1.5 years.
Factors That Affect Longevity
The duration of Juvelook Volume varies substantially between individuals. In my experience, two factors are particularly important.
1. Age
The first is age. Younger patients generally produce collagen more efficiently and experience slower collagen degradation. Because of this, patients in their 20s and 30s often maintain results longer than older patients.
In our clinic, I typically recommend:
Maintenance every 2 years for patients in their 20s–30s
Maintenance every 1.5 years for patients over 40
Synergistic Effects with EBD Treatments
The second factor is combination treatment with energy-based devices.
Radiofrequency treatments such as Thermage, Density, and XERF can further stimulate collagen production. When combined appropriately with Juvelook Volume, they often improve both the intensity and longevity of the results.
Final Thoughts
There is no absolute expiration date for Juvelook Volume. Beyond age and treatment combinations, factors such as genetics, metabolism, lifestyle, and collagen turnover all influence how long the results will last.
Rather than following a rigid maintenance schedule, I usually recommend returning for evaluation once you begin to notice a slight decrease in volume. By comparing current skin analysis images with previous records, it becomes much easier to determine the ideal timing for touch-up treatment.
Ultimately, the most important factor is finding a clinic where the performing physician personally evaluates your progress and creates a treatment plan based on long-term facial balance rather than short-term volume alone.
